New Ironman Triathlon World Record
Belgian Marino Vanhoenacker broke 14-year-old record at the Ironman Austria on July 3rd.
In a new world record time of 7:45:58 h, Marino Vanhoenacker won his sixth title in a row and now has nine Ironman victories on his list. Already in 2010 he missed the 14-year-old record of his compatriot Luc Van Lierde by just 98 seconds. This year he succeeded even though the course was said to be slowed down by a new transition area. At the end Vanhoenacker was 4:29 minutes faster than the old record, which stood at 7:50:27 h.
